Assault AirBike, Classic, How to Tighten the Pivot Pin Assembly in the Handlebars
A loose or wobbling handlebar on your Assault Classic AirBike can be a quick fix, and you can punish your bike or yourself in no time flat.
The cause of loose or wobbly handlebars is a simple problem with a simple solution. The pivot pin assembly is loose and requires tightening.
Tools Needed:
- 13mm Wrench (Open End, Box end, or Adjustable Wrench)
- 6mm Allen Wrench
Tightening the Pivot Pin Assembly for the Assault Classic Bike Handlebar:
- You will remove the nylon lock nut from the pivot pin that connects the handlebar to the linkage arm on your Assault Classic bike. You will need a 6mm Allen wrench to fit into the head of the pivot pin and a 13mm wrench or adjustable wrench to fit the nylon lock nut at the opposite end of the pivot pin. In the example below, the red arrows point to the pivot pin and the nylon lock nut.
- After removing the nylon lock nut from the pivot pin, push the handlebar forward toward the front of the bike to allow you to disconnect the linkage arm from the handlebar pivot pin. See the example below.
- Disconnect the linkage arm from the handlebar pivot pin. This gives you access to make the necessary adjustments to the pivot pin. Rest the linkage arm on the floor. See the example below.
- Place your 6mm hex wrench into the head of the pivot pin and your 13mm or adjustable wrench on the flat nut marked by the red arrow in the example above.
- Tighten the flat nut until there is no play or movement between the pivot pin and handlebar.
- Place the linkage arm back onto the pivot pin. Install and tighten the nylon lock nut.
These few simple steps can eliminate the problem of a loose or wobbly handlebar on your Assault AirBike Classic.
